February, 2010, LCDC was approached by White Water Creek (WWC) to be a potential partner in the Project, a 50 unit senior-oriented, deed restricted affordable housing initiative proposed for location in the LCDC’s River District. WWC shared that if the LCDC was willing to be a partner in the Project, then WWC would have much better odds in competing for, and securing, the federal tax credits associated with these types of affordable housing projects in Idaho. To that end, Executive Director Berns submitted a conditional LCDC letter of support for the Project that was contained in WWC’s application package to the Idaho Housing & Finance Association (IHFA), the entity that administers the federal tax credits in Idaho.
Based in large part on LCDC’s proposed conditional support of the Project, WWC was successful in obtaining the federal tax credits for the Mill River Senior Living project.
